Purchasing Manager – Manufacturing Industry

Our client, a leading manufacturer renowned for its commitment to quality and operational excellence, is seeking a Purchasing Manager to oversee the procurement of materials and parts essential to production processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supply chain management while contributing to the company’s ongoing success and stability within the manufacturing industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • - Review daily material and bar stock requirements to identify purchasing needs for production, MRP schedules, and specific requests.
  • - Place purchase orders with suppliers; negotiate pricing, quantities, and delivery timelines to ensure timely fulfillment of production demands.
  • - Attend and actively participate in weekly production meetings, providing updates and addressing any purchasing-related concerns.
  • - Develop, maintain, and update the Approved Supplier List to ensure an efficient and reliable supply chain.
  • - Supervise, train, and manage the Purchasing Assistant, providing guidance and support.
  • - Oversee supplier relations, resolving order discrepancies relating to price, quantity, and product quality, including defective materials.
  • - Collaborate cross-functionally to meet facility operational needs, including non-inventory item procurement.
  • - Perform additional assignments as required by the Materials Manager.

Requirements:

  • - High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • - Minimum 5 years of experience in purchasing management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • - Proficient with basic computer applications, including MS Word and Excel, and experience utilizing ERP purchasing systems.
  • - Familiarity with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems.
  • - Strong verbal and written communication skills; fluency in English required.
  • - Solid basic mathematical skills and the ability to interpret purchasing contracts, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • - Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and skill in managing multiple tasks within time constraints.
  • - Able to effectively monitor purchasing workflows and lead a small team.
