State Director(Non-Profit), New Mexico

Role Overview:

  • Lead the development and implementation of an annual state plan aligned with strategic goals

  • Oversee statewide operations, including nine full-time staff and direct supervision of two programmatic team members

  • Ensure consistency and success across friendship, leadership development, jobs, and transition programs

  • Oversee fundraising events including the Friendship Walk and Champion of the Year events

  • Manage key revenue sources including foundation grants and government awards

  • Strengthen local presence through community engagement, media initiatives, and awareness campaigns

  • Build and manage Advisory Boards, local committees, and relationships with key stakeholders

  • Represent the organization publicly and drive visibility, influence, and mission alignment across New Mexico


What We're Looking For:

  • A track record of securing private funding through donor cultivation, events, or partnerships—especially valuable in a government-funded environment

  • 4–7 years of progressive fundraising experience and 3–5 years in people management

  • Strong presence in community engagement and public representation

  • Experience leading in mission-driven organizations with multiple program areas

  • A solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to motivate teams and model accountability

  • Confidence navigating both government and private funding streams

  • A passion for inclusion, equity, and building strong relationships across diverse communities

  • High energy, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence in dynamic, high-impact environments


Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree or at least 4 years of relevant professional experience

  • 4–7 years of progressive fundraising experience, including success with donor growth, grants, events, and board engagement

  • 3–5 years of team management experience with a focus on talent development

  • Strong persuasive writing and presentation skills with the ability to inspire and influence others

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort using online databases

  • Strong project management and multitasking capabilities

  • High initiative and results orientation with the ability to lead by example

  • Willingness to engage directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

  • Availability to travel and work evenings/weekends as needed

  • Access to a personal vehicle and applicable insurance
