Empowered Staffing is partnered with a Chicago-based technology company that services clients in the long-term care industry. As the company continues to expand, they are searching for a Director of Engineering to take full ownership of its technology function, identify gaps across the product and engineering stack, and implement scalable processes, tools, and standards to drive results.

As the Director, you will help the team fulfill technical, operational, and business requirements to deliver the strategic and technical product roadmaps while directing the architecture and delivery of current and new software products.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage product engineering teams (offshore, remote, and/or local).
  • Apply Best Practices and continually refine processes and protocols towards improvement of Engineering’s contributions on a measurable basis
  • Lead learning initiatives impacting the development organization to ensure the team is empowered with the knowledge and capabilities to be successful.
  • Provide leadership to the development team while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high performance, and ethical behavior.
  • Serves as a change agent by continuously assessing the need for organizational change, championing change initiatives, and removing obstacles impeding constructive organizational change.
  • Collaborates effectively cross-functionally with internal teams to provide input on market and customer needs.
  • Oversee system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency.
  • Discover and implement new technologies that yield a competitive advantage.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in building and deploying SaaS-based solutions in HCIT and leading development teams.
  • Experience managing offshore product development and engineering teams.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience in architecting, developing, and launching software products and/or services.
  • High proficiency and technical leadership in full-stack web application development using modern frameworks (such as JAVA).
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
