Empowered Staffing is partnered with a rapidly growing accounting and back-office solutions firm based in Lakewood, NJ, in search of a Bookkeeping Manager to lead and support a dynamic team of bookkeeping professionals. This is a leadership role ideal for someone passionate about accounting, team development, and client success.
As the Bookkeeping Manager, you’ll manage day-to-day bookkeeping operations, oversee a portfolio of key client accounts, implement process improvements, and help drive the launch of new financial service offerings.
Responsibilities
- Review the work of multiple bookkeepers to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reports for clients.
- Provide daily support, answer questions, and conduct weekly one-on-one check-ins with team members.
- Assign tasks based on bandwidth and skill sets, ensuring project deadlines and deliverables are met.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation strategies to enhance team productivity.
- Directly manage a portfolio of small to mid-sized business clients, offering advisory-level support.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Deep understanding of full-cycle bookkeeping, financial reporting, and U.S. GAAP.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online and Desktop); experience with additional accounting platforms is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to spot financial inconsistencies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for client interaction and team coordination.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required).
