Empowered Staffing is partnered with a mission-driven organization that owns and operates skilled nursing facilities across the nation. As the company continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Assistant/Deputy Controller to join its team in Skokie and play a key role in managing the financial operations of the company!

The Assistant/Deputy Controller will support the Controller and CFO in managing the financial health of the company and helping to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance for its skilled nursing facilities. 

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and healthcare regulations.

  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, working with department heads to monitor and control spending across facilities.

  • Oversee the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal control policies to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Supervise accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate billing, collections, and payments.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal healthcare regulations, tax laws, and other financial reporting requirements.

  • Conduct financial analysis to provide insights and recommendations to senior management, focusing on cost control, revenue enhancement, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in the skilled nursing industry

  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP and healthcare-specific financial regulations

  • Strong experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting in multi-location environments

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with audits and regulatory compliance is highly desirable
