Edenbrook Oshkosh is seeking a dependable and adaptable Maintenance Assistant / Transportation Driver to support both facility maintenance and resident transportation. This dual-role position ensures that our building remains safe and well-maintained while also providing safe, timely transportation for residents. Flexibility is essential, as schedules and responsibilities will vary daily based on resident appointments, admissions, and maintenance needs.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Maintenance Director with work orders, room moves, painting, and general facility upkeep
- Perform basic carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and landscaping tasks
- Drive the facility van/bus to safely transport residents to and from appointments in a timely manner
- Assist residents and passengers with safe loading/unloading, seating, restraints, and special equipment (both routine and emergency situations)
- Maintain and fuel the facility van/bus, ensuring it is in safe operating condition
- Demonstrate responsibility, dependability, honesty, and respect for confidentiality and the rights of others
- Work compassionately with the elderly and interact respectfully with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the general public
- Participate in the on-call maintenance rotation every other weekend
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of building codes, OSHA, and other safety requirements
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
- Familiarity with rules and regulations regarding the operation of plant equipment
- Ability to direct, motivate, and work as part of a team as well as independently
- Effective verbal and written communication skills at all organizational levels, including residents and family members
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach
Qualifications:
- Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, or transportation preferred
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving furniture, and light repairs
Schedule:
- Flexible work hours; start times may vary between 6:30 AM and 8:30 AM
- Typical end of day is 4:30 PM, with occasional later hours for appointments or admissions
Compensation:
Hourly wage starting at $20 (negotiable based on experience)
