Position: Infection Preventionist Nurse / Educator RN
The Infection Preventionist Nurse / Educator RN is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing infection prevention and control programs to ensure a safe and healthy environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This role also includes educating staff on infection control practices, regulatory compliance, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement an effective infection prevention and control program in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct routine surveillance of healthcare-associated infections and implement prevention strategies.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, policies, and procedures.
- Educate and train staff on infection control protocols, best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to monitor and prevent infectious disease outbreaks.
- Lead investigations of infection outbreaks and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain and update infection control policies and procedures as needed.
- Serve as a resource and consultant for staff regarding infection prevention concerns.
- Coordinate employee health programs related to infection control, including immunizations and screenings.
- Prepare reports and communicate infection prevention findings to leadership and regulatory agencies as required.
Educator Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate, and implement educational programs for staff to enhance knowledge and compliance with infection prevention practices.
- Conduct orientation and ongoing training programs for new and existing employees on healthcare safety, hygiene, and infection control protocols.
- Assess staff competency through evaluations, hands-on training, and performance assessments.
- Stay updated on current infection control guidelines and best practices and incorporate them into training programs.
- Serve as a mentor and resource to staff for professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
- Ensure training materials and educational sessions align with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify training needs and develop improvement plans.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Previous experience in infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of CDC, CMS, and state infection control regulations.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Experience in staff education, training, or professional development preferred.
