Maple Ridge Senior Living, a well-established and a trusted provider in the senior living space, and a proud member of Vista Senior Living Management, is looking for a Maintenance Assistant / Housekeeping Supervisor.
Position: Environmental Services Supervisor
As the Maintenance Assistant / Housekeeping Supervisor, you will oversee and support the housekeeping staff while performing and coordinating the maintenance tasks that keep our community safe, clean, comfortable, and fully operational, ensuring a welcoming environment for our residents and staff (following current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations). This is a full-time, hourly position on the day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Weekend and on-call rotation may be required.
The ideal candidate will have previous housekeeping supervisory and/or hands-on maintenance experience in a senior living or healthcare setting, strong attention to detail, and a caring, team-player attitude with a customer-service-focused personality. Experience is preferred.
Housekeeping Supervisor Functions:
• Plans, directs, and supervises the daily activities of the housekeeping staff.
• Responsible for the cleaning and sanitizing of resident rooms and all areas inside the facility, as well as outside and the entire property.
• Ensures the facility is kept clean, sanitary, and odor-free at all times in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Responsible for operating the housekeeping department within budgetary guidelines and limitations.
• Completes annual performance reviews of subordinate staff and provides guidance and education regarding their performance.
• Responsible for training and educating staff members.
• Assures that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times.
• Assists with new admissions, re-admissions, and the transfer of residents to different rooms within the facility.
Maintenance Functions:
• Ensures that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined for the respective shift or area.
• Assists in setting maintenance standards and developing procedures for performing daily maintenance tasks.
• Coordinates daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas.
• Performs administrative requirements (i.e., completing necessary forms, reports, etc.) and submits them to the supervisor as necessary.
• Submits accident/incident reports on the shift in which they occur.
• Supports the overall cleanliness and appearance of the community through regular inspections and maintenance of common areas and resident living spaces.
• Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, and supply issues to the appropriate persons.
General Responsibilities:
• Follows established safety precautions and adheres to all safety protocols when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies.
• Assists in training and supervising new housekeeping and maintenance staff as required.
• Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth and respect and promotes a caring environment.
• Answers and responds to call lights promptly and courteously when working in resident care areas.
• Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors to address concerns or requests promptly.
• Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.
• Ensures that all proprietary, financial, and resident information is kept confidential.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Previous housekeeping supervisory and/or maintenance experience in a healthcare or senior living setting preferred (2+ years desirable).
• Knowledge of healthcare cleaning, infection control, and maintenance standards, regulations, and procedures is preferred.
• Good telephone skills and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with maintenance management systems or software is a plus.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, which may include lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and operating maintenance and housekeeping equipment.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in a maintenance-related field is a plus.
