Job Title: HVAC Service Technician

Overview: The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role requires a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation: Install HVAC systems according to specifications and manufacturer guidelines. This may involve assembling, wiring, and testing various components such as air handlers, condensers, compressors, and thermostats.

  2. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. This includes cleaning components, replacing filters, lubricating moving parts, and inspecting for any signs of wear or damage.

  3. Diagnosis & Repair: Troubleshoot HVAC systems to identify issues and determine the appropriate course of action for repairs. This may involve testing electrical circuits, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting ductwork for leaks or blockages.

  4. Repair Work: Execute repairs on HVAC systems, which may involve replacing faulty components, repairing wiring or leaks, and recalibrating controls. Ensure all work is completed accurately and in compliance with safety regulations.

  5. Customer Interaction: Communicate with customers to understand their HVAC needs, explain recommended services or repairs, and provide estimates for the cost and duration of work. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.

  6. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including service reports, invoices, and parts used. Ensure paperwork is completed promptly and submitted according to company procedures.

  7. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing HVAC work. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, following proper procedures for handling refrigerants, and securing work areas to prevent accidents or injuries.

  8. Continuing Education: Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in HVAC technology, and changes to relevant regulations or codes. Pursue opportunities for professional development and training to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or apprenticeship program preferred.
  • HVAC certification or relevant licenses (e.g., EPA 608 certification) may be required depending on jurisdiction.
  • Proven experience as an HVAC technician, with demonstrated proficiency in installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems.
  • Strong technical skills, including knowledge of electrical systems, refrigeration principles, and mechanical components.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and working in various environmental conditions.
